DONKEY IN A DITCH
©Les Julian & Bill Pere

VERSE 1
A crowd of crows walked along the road when a donkey in a ditch caught their eye
The crows started callin’ “Hey donkey did you fall in?” he said “Yes” starting to cry
“Can you help me climb up it’s dark down here?” and his nose poked over the edge
“Caw, caw”, they laughed “you’re not like us!” and threw stones at him over the ledge

CHORUS
Donkey in a ditch he asked for help but they refused
Donkey in a ditch angry, afraid and so confused
How would you feel if this happened to you?
Donkey in a ditch, what will he do?

VERSE 2
Some lions came next all pompous and puffed, the sun never set on their pride
The donkey looked up, “Can you help me my friends?” “Ahhr”, they yawned, “but why?”
“I can’t climb out it’s muddy and wet”, he slid back down from the edge
“Har,har”, they roared “You’re not one of us!” and threw stones at him over the ledge

CHORUS

BRIDGE
Snakes and monkeys, hyenas and wolves, cayotes and mockinÌgbirds too
Hissed and chortled, laughed and howled-what was the donkey to do?
With each stone that was thrown the pile grew higher, higher and higher like stairs
“I’ll climb out myself I don’t need their help! Why ask when nobody cares?”

VERSE 3
Back on the road feeling all alone the Donkey stared at the stars
When a sheep in a fence cried out in despair, “I’m caught! Is anyone there?”
“He’s just like me,” the donkey thought, “but why should I help him at all?”
He kicked at a stone, “Should I help him or not?” and tears started to fall...

CHORUS
Donkey in a ditch he asked for help but they refused
Donkey in a ditch angry, afraid and so confused
How would you feel if this happened to you?
Donkey in a ditch, what will he do?

JUMP RIGHT OVER THE MOON
©Les Julian

Verse 1
I met this cow wearin’ sneakers one summer day
She was jumpin’ over fences and bails of hay
She said, “Little by little, bit by bit
I’m jumpin’ higher and higher just think of it
Some night soon I’m gonna jump right over the moon!”

Verse 2
By the fall she was jumpin’ over apple trees
She could even jump the barn withput hurtin’ her knees
She said, “I’m eatin’ my grass feelin’ my oats
Jumpin’ higher and higher I can almost float!
Some night soon I’m gonna jump right over the moon!”

Bridge 1
The winter was long and hard, she wore her warm-up suit
When her muscles ached she’d tell herself, “Just mooove it!”
The media wouldn’t leave her alone
There were endorsement offers over the phone
Storybook deals and the talkshows too
But to enery distraction she’d say, “No thank moo!”
She jumped over hills. She jumped clouds for thrilâls.
She even jumped a jet without breakin’ a bone, without breakin’ a sweat!

Verse 3
When springtime came she very nearly took flight
She jumped a shooting star and a satelite
She said, “Little by little, bit by bit
I’m gettin’ stronger and stronger just think of it
Some night soon I’m gonna jump right over the moon!”

Bridge 2
Fin’lly in May on a moonlit night
With the moon lookin’ down from its heavenly height
She flexed her legs the crowd gave a cheer
As she shot from the yard through the atmosphere
Like a rocket or comet to the moon she was bound
She zoomed ‘round the dark side then headed back down
Landing back in the yard with a big dusty thud
‘Udderly’ pleased and chewing her cud

1/2 Verse
She said, “Little by little, bit by bit
I’m jumpin’ higher and higher just think of it
I jumped over the moon but sure as there are stars
Next year for my new goal I’m gonna jump over Mars!
