Les Julian is a soulful singer-songwriter, guitarist, storyteller, and lifelong devotee of the yogic arts whose music, songwriting and teachings celebrate the universal themes of human life. For decades, he traveled a celebrated musical path, entertaining thousands of children and adults across more than 10,000 live performances in bars, night-clubs, senior centers, schools, theaters, and festivals. Deemed by reviewers as "a singer of stories that delight and transport," his acclaimed artistry has always served a higher purpose: to illuminate unity in the diversity of our world.

"Les Julian's performance was full of energy and excitement which drew people to him from across the park. Not only was he entertaining, but the lyrics to his songs were educational. He was able to communicate his love for the human race through his witty and inspirational songs." Autumn in the Park Festival Coordinator New Haven, CT

His award-winning family recordings—including Color Outside the Lines, Living in the Land of OOH, AAH, On My Dad’s Shoulders, and Good Things Happen!—have earned prestigious Parent’s Choice Gold Awards, An American Library Notable Recording Award, and National Parenting Publications of America Awards. Notably, his original song "Donkey in a Ditch" (co-written with Bill Pere) was featured on the compilation album, All About Bullies…Big and Small. The CD won a Grammy Award for Best Children's Album.

"It's a joy to see work as unique and fine as yours!" Diana Huss Greene, Editor-in-Chief-PARENT'S MAGAZINE

His true calling took root at the end of 1974 when he graduated from college, took an eye-opening journey through Europe, performed his first coffeehouse gig, and was initiated into Transcendental Meditation. Guided by legendary spiritual masters—including Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Dhyan Yogi Madhusudandas, Swami Muktananda, and Yogi Amrit Desai—Les, pursuing his own enlightenment, learned to sing the sacred, ancient mantras used by his teachers to attain their enlightenment. This set a lifelong trajectory fueled by the harmonious union of melody, words and meditation.

Following his retirement from family entertainment in 2026, Les has fully aligned his creative energy with his spiritual roots. Today, his life is anchored in a dedicated daily yoga meditation practice which includes the daily chanting of mantra. (fortunately his wife of fifty years, Noreen, still likes to listen and sing along!) Les now focuses on composing, recording, and performing music, utilizing great world mantras to elevate consciousness. Through live and online Yoga Nidra meditations, daily chanting, and leading immersive live chants of sacred sounds like Om Namah Shivaya, Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu, Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya, Om Mane Padme Hum, and Sita Ram, he invites others to experience stillness, healing, and higher awareness. Whether through the resonance of his instrumental music or the power of his vocal offerings, Les continues to create sonic spaces that awaken the heart and transport the soul.
